Livestock Assistant Diploma (LAD) Objectives

The primary aim of a Livestock Assistant is to provide structured technical and skilled services of modern animal husbandry studies and techniques that help in improving the productivity of domestic livestock. In addition, these services ensure a sustainable livelihood and provide a route towards poverty alleviation, particularly in rural areas. Livestock Assistant Diploma at Ziauddin University is a 2-year program that would professionally train students for assisting Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) graduates at veterinary hospitals, dispensaries, and livestock farms and fields. Moreover, it would ensure to provide technical skills for advising farmers on correct livestock management and hygiene practices, also efficiently handle minor livestock related cases.

Further, the objectives of the diploma include imparting technical skills that would enable students with the skills of analyzing signs of diseases in animals and provide required treatment to sick or infected animals. Assist and advice progressive farmers to improve reproductive health by suggesting artificial insemination. Provide suggestions regarding seasonal vaccinations against diseases. Moreover, collect and analyze blood fecal samples for proper laboratory diagnosis, performing deworming against ecto and endo parasites, and assist in animal ration preparation for better health and productivity of livestock animals. Educate and initiate awareness programs for locals on efficient animal breeding, feeding, disease control, management, marketing and conduct basic data collection in the field. Enhance employment opportunities as clinicians, livestock managers and work as independent livestock assistants at both national and international levels.a

Eligibility Criteria for LAD Program:

  • Minimum Pass marks in Secondary School Certificate Examination held by a recognized Board of Secondary Education in Pakistan for LAD Program
  • Minimum Pass marks in Higher Secondary Certificate Examination held by a recognized Board of Intermediate Education in Pakistan or O/A Level and other equivalent to HSC for LAD Program
  • Applications are invited for Link Road Campus.
